Yeast infection or Herpes?
I had sex for my very first time a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend. We used a condom when we had intercourse but we didn’t use any protection for oral sex. Days later I developed a clear odorless discharge which I thought to be normal but, a week later the discharge turned white and was thick, lumpy and heavier. It was still odorless and it didn’t itch or burn and I had no other symptoms. I went to the clinic and the MD prescribed some yeast infection treatment for 3 days. I got my period and thought that was the end of that. However, now my period is completely gone and i’m still getting a white discharge. It is itching a little around my vaginal opening but I don’t see anything else. My boyfriend recently said he got tested right after and tested positive for herpes?! I don’t know what to believe and I know I should just get tested and wait for my results but I won’t do that until next week. Is it herpes? If so was it wrong to treat it with yeast treatment? I am freaking out.

Well, it doesn’t sounds like herpes because usually with a herpes outbreak you have red sores and it burns when you pee and you have some swelling in that area. What type of herpes did he test positive for? There is a type 1 and 2. Type 1 comes from cold sores and type 2 is from the genitals. Sounds like you may have just a yeast infection. The doctor should have tested you for herpes when you went the first time. That is bad on his part.
Get Tested.
Your boyfriend is a dick. He shouldve gotten tested before he had sex with you.
discharge usually doesnt mean you have an infection. most of the time it’s normal. it’s your bodys way of cleaning "down there"
if you went to the clinic and they found that you had a yeast infection, then chances are you had one. sometimes you dont even know you have them. but if he tested positive for herpes then keep using protection. but as for oral, if he has genitile herpes and he did stuff to you you wont get it. but if you did stuff to him, then theres a posibility. just go back to the docter and tell him this story, and definatly go get tested.
goodluck
Get tested as soon as you can. You should know right away as herpes is very contaigeous and you have it for life. Also it can spread from his penis to your vagina OR his penis to your face.
it can be easily controlled but you should go now
ps. The yeast infection treatment wont affect the herpes
doesn’t sounds like herpes. a yeast infection is usually itchy, but women can vary. it could also be bacterial vaginosis, which is like kind of like a yeast infection. it usually has a grayish-white discharge, but the discharge is minimal. it does not tend to itch as much, but can just cause the vaginal/vulvar area to be irritated or red. it is treated easily, but differently, from a yeast infection. you should probably go back to the doc. they should look at a sample under the microscope to see what it really is.
most people test positive for herpes, at least 80% of the population either has herpes 1 (tends to be oral) or herpes 2 (tends to be genital). anyone who gets fever blisters has herpes, usually type 1. if your boyfriend has genital herpes, then you could get that from him (and sometimes a condom doesn’t protect– if it doesn’t cover the lesion). herpes presents as a red ulcer and most people get a tingling or burning sensation in the area before one comes (but you can’t depend on that 100%).
essentially, go back to your doc. let him/her check you out again. tell them about you boyfriend’s herpes and they can tell you what you can do to protect yourself. good luck.
Your symptoms are not of herpes.
Herpes is a disease that affects the skin, so it would not be the reason for any sort of discharge. If you had genital herpes, the first symptoms would be itchy sore(s) around your genitalia.
"Herpes" is a very common disease — if you or anyone you know gets cold sores, that is a form of (oral) herpes. Many people have been exposed to herpes and don’t show any symptoms, which could be one explanation for why your boyfriend tested positive. If he’s never had any signs of genital or oral herpes before, I wouldn’t worry about it. If he had an open sore anywhere, this would be cause for concern.
Either way, if you’ve contracted some form of herpes it usually takes a while before you get a breakout, so I doubt it’s herpes. You most likely never got rid of the yeast infection.
You need to go get an STD panel (blood test).
