Will yogurt prevent yeast infections after taking Flagyl?

I have been unlucky with yeast infection medicines and refuse to buy anymore. I recently was treated with Flagyl and from past experience I soon after had a yeast infection. A doctor has told me before that Yogurt cures and prevents yeast. My question is also How much would I have to take? And would it work successfully if i havent even seen symptoms yet?

You’re supposed to have some bacteria in your body. People who are prone to yeast infections can benefit from the added good bacteria that yogurt provides. It’s a preventative measure though, not a cure so you want to take it before the symptoms occur. A good dose would probably be one serving per day. That’s what most people who eat yogurt to stay healthy consume.
Also if you are prone to yeast infections, as I am, you’ll want to be very careful to take more preventative measures such as:
cleaning yourself after sex, NOT using an anti-bacterial body wash or soap, showering every day and completely drying your genital area, not wearing wet clothes or bathing suits for prolonged periods, wearing clean and loose underwear, not wearing constrictive pants, wiping front-to-back when you have a bowel movement (gross, I know- but bacteria living in the rectum and poo is the most likely culprit of UTI and yeast infections), and changing pads and tampons often.
Yogurt may or may not help. It’s helped some of my friends, other friends say they had to eat too much yogurt to have even a slight effect, and it didn’t do anything for me. If you try it, make sure you get one that says it contains "Live Cultures"–you want those good bacteria alive and well.
What I finally did was ask my doc for a prescription to treat a yeast infection every time I had to take antibiotics. I just filled the 2 prescriptions at the same time, and used the yeast medicine as soon as I felt the infecton start.
