What snacks can I have during breastfeeding thrush infection?
Hi
Due to a thrush infection I have to cut out sugar from my diet to cure it. This includes natural sugars like fruit, and other sweet things (artificial sweetener) that the yeast would feed on. Also meant to really limit dairy, apart from active yoghurt. Additionally I can’t have anything with yeast in, such as most bread products; plus some other things.
I can manage my meals okay, but want to snack a lot (I need more calories due to the bf, and probably also have some bad snacking habits). I am really struggling to find snacks that I am allowed to eat.
I’d appreciate it if people can offer some suggestions so I can find different things. I am aware I could just not snack, but I’m afraid I’ll end up binging or eating unhealthier meals.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Ooh, that must be tough! I couldn’t live without my cakes
What about snacking on some carrot, celery or capsicum sticks? You could make up a natural yoghurt and cucumber dip to have with the celery and carrot sticks so that its not boring old celery/carrot etc on its own.
You could try things like unsalted nuts as well or rice crackers/cakes (I think they are ok). How about slicing sweet potato/parsnip/potato up into thin pieces and oven baking them (spray with a little oil and rosemary) until they are crispy. It’s a healthier version of crisps!
Yeast feeds on sugar and things like high fructose corn syrup, not artificial sweeteners. I like celery with peanut butter, and getting a little protein with a snack also helps keep your blood sugar stable. It will also help with the thrush to take acidophilus. It’s available over the counter, and it’s with the vitamins in the pharmacy.
Yogurt is great as it has acidophiles which can help with your problem. It is a natural bacteria that helps boost immunity. As well, high fiber will help to make you feel full and provide extra nutrients that will provide you what you need. When I am thinking fiber I am not talking empty carbs, but fruits and veggies. Nuts, unless you are allergic or have allergies in your family to nuts. Then avoid those.
