Vaginal issues: burning, itching, irritation won't go away.?
Last June I got a bladder infection that also felt like a vaginal infection. My PCP put me on antibiotics for a few days and I felt a little relief. I went back and he decided to put me on Bactrim (antibiotic) for 3 months because my Urologist had done this previously to give my bladder a chance to heal. Well, this was August. In the first week of Sept I got a horrific bladder/vaginal infection. I was put on meds for 7 days which helped the bladder issues but the burning in my vagina was horrible. I went back to my PCP who gave me a 3 day yeast infection treatment. Helped. But by that monday my symptoms were all back. Tuesday I go to my NP at my OBGYN, she does a culture and tells me I have yeast till and write me a prescription. She also diagnoses me with Interestitial Cystitis and starts me on those meds. Unfortunately, the meds don’t help you feel better for at least 3 months. Well, I use the yeast infection meds and I get a little better again. But then it comes back. I call my NP and she prescribes Diflucan and a topical anti fungal/steroid. Well, this stuff made it worse!! So I go in once again and she does another culture and finds no yeast or bacteria but notices my pH is off. So she gives me Relagard. I use it for 5 nights and NO improvement. Then I had a Dr appt with my actualy OBGYN and I tell her about all of these issues and she is just like, "oh here is another steroid cream. Use it for a week then taper off the next two weeks and if you don’t get better then call me." I’m completely flabbergasted. I am in so much pain and it seems like no one cares or is really trying to fix it.
I am wondering if anyone has the same issues with their Interstitial Cystitis? Do you have intense burning at the opening of your urethra and in your vaginal opening as well? And what about irritation/ burning/ and just pain every where else.
I’m on Elmiron and I take Urelle 3 times a day. Should I be taking 4 Urelle every day to help with the pain or no. I just really don’t feel like they figured out what it was and am treating me correctly. What do you think?
