I’ve had yeast infection since March because of antibiotics (I had to take a few treatments). First time Diflucan helped, but after another antibiotic the infection came back but never went away. I tried some vaginal creams to treat the infection and it didn’t help. My gyno put me on a 6-month treatment with Diflucan (1 pill every week for 6 months). I already took 4 pills and it’s not even getting better at all. It’s not too bad, it doesn’t itch at all, it doesn’t hurt when i have sex but there’s a lot of white discharge. And it’s kinda weird because sometimes i feel like i don’t have it anymore but later the same day the discharge comes back. And everytime we have sex, my boyfriend’s penis is covered with this white stuff, it’s just disgusting, man. My doc sent the culture to the lab and they confirmed that it’s yeast.
Have you ever had this kind of problem before and how did you get rid of it?
Thank you all

I know this is going to sound bad, but about a month ago I started experiencing vaginal itching, discomfort, a little bit of white discharge; all the typical symptoms of a yeast infection. My mom gets them quite frequently and knows all about them, so when I described to her what was going on, she said we should go get an over-the-counter kit (Canesten 1-Treatment cream). I didn’t check with my doctor if what I had was actually a yeast infection, but all the symptoms seemed so spot on to those of a yeast infection so I figured I should just go for it, what harm could it do. I took the 1 treatment kit, then again I think a little while after (not sure exactly how many days after) since it hadn’t really gone away. Then after the second treatment, it disappeared.
Now I have the same symptoms again. I’m on the birth control pill, which I know is a common cause of yeast infections, so I’m pretty positive that I DO indeed have a yeast infection. I just bought a 1-treatment Canesten pill pack today and I was planning to take it tonight, but my mom thinks I should just try an itch relieving cream (like Vagisil) for now, until we actually go to the doctor and get it checked out.
What I’m mostly curious/concerned about is was it really bad to have taken medication for a yeast infection if its possible that I didn’t really have one to begin with? What’s the worst that could happen, if anything?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
I’m almost %100 positive that I don’t have an STD (*knock on wood*). I’ve only ever been with one guy, and we were both each other’s first time, so I don’t know where I could get an STD/STI from if I were to actually have one.

I know this is gross, but I have searched like crazy and can’t find the answer. I got my first small yeast infection and found a ton of info saying that yogurt (and putting a garlic clove up there is supposed to work, too) could cure a yeast infection, and to actually put yogurt down there and…inside. Well, I got desperate and actually did it. I also did the garlic for 3 nights.
I keep checking myself to see if the white discharge is gone, but I am still finding some white stuff, which is not lumpy like they say yeast infections are (but it is definitely white, and not something else), no yeasty smell, and is almost like a liquidy texture.
Is this the yogurt coming out still? It’s been about two days since I did that treatment (the frozen yogurt tampon). How do other people get the yogurt out? Does it come out naturally? Get absorbed? If I only find a tiny bit of that and maybe one small (I mean tiny) bit of yeast, am I pretty much home free?
Also, I bought Actimel (euro version of DanActiv) which is a yogurt drink with lots of live cultures. Will drinking, say, 8 small bottles of this in the course of a day for a few days help curing this along?
I know this is a lot, but the question about getting the yogurt out is the most important! What is supposed to happen?!

Hi, my name is Steffany I’m 23 years old and I have a question. Aproximately around September 2009 I developed an irritation and pain after sexual intercourse for the first time of my life. I got worried and I ask my PCP what could it be, we agree that it was most likely Yeast, so I go some over the counter suppositories, the irritation was still there so he recomended to take a single dosis of Diflucan and after that it will be completely gone. Well it didn’t go away so I went to the OBGYN she took a culture and looked it up on the microscope, it came up to be Yeast as we assumed before, she also tested me for Chlamydia because of my symptoms of pain during and after sex,I got also tested for HIV, Syphilis, sugar and Thyroid, everything came up normal and negative. My OBGYN gave me a vaginal cream that I used for 7 days, during those 7 days I got my period but I keep on using it, at the end of the treatment the infection was gone, but 2 weeks later it came back. I went back again to the OBGYN she looked up another sample under the microscope and the yeast was still there (at this point I was already following all the hygene advices that she gave me) She told me a few more hygene habits and some things that I need to avoid and she gave me another prescription for Diflucan (single dose) I took it and follow all the instructions avoiding sexual intercourse and everything. During the waiting time after taking the pill, I got my period and the infection was gone, but not for too long, every since then I been getting the same symptoms at least 1 week before my period comes, with the exception that I don’t get the irritation or pain, but I do get the white discharge without smell and the itchines. I don’t know what to do, it is very unconfortable and discusting to me. I have to say also that I’m married, been with same sexual partner for the last 5 years, I just turned 23 years old yesterday, and I been taking oral contraceptives for about 4 years (I used Yasmin and about 3 months ago I switched to Ocella the alternative for Yasmin) I haven’t been on any antibiotic treatment, and always but, even more after the first diagnosis of yeast, keep good hygenic habits. I will apreciate if you can guide me on what to do since I don’t want to go to the OBGYN have them do a culture and give me another treatment that will help only for a few weeks and then it will come back. Thank you for your help

I have been having some problems of interest for the past few days so I did research today and it seems I have a yeast infection. My symptoms are intense external vaginal itching, burning when my pee touches my skin, and white discharge. I’ve never have a yeast infection before and I can’t get to the doctor for a week. I want to treat this on my own if possible. What is a good way to treat it? Any advice on relieving the itching during treatment?
Thanks!
