Urgent – Yeast Infection?

I know this is going to sound bad, but about a month ago I started experiencing vaginal itching, discomfort, a little bit of white discharge; all the typical symptoms of a yeast infection. My mom gets them quite frequently and knows all about them, so when I described to her what was going on, she said we should go get an over-the-counter kit (Canesten 1-Treatment cream). I didn’t check with my doctor if what I had was actually a yeast infection, but all the symptoms seemed so spot on to those of a yeast infection so I figured I should just go for it, what harm could it do. I took the 1 treatment kit, then again I think a little while after (not sure exactly how many days after) since it hadn’t really gone away. Then after the second treatment, it disappeared.
Now I have the same symptoms again. I’m on the birth control pill, which I know is a common cause of yeast infections, so I’m pretty positive that I DO indeed have a yeast infection. I just bought a 1-treatment Canesten pill pack today and I was planning to take it tonight, but my mom thinks I should just try an itch relieving cream (like Vagisil) for now, until we actually go to the doctor and get it checked out.
What I’m mostly curious/concerned about is was it really bad to have taken medication for a yeast infection if its possible that I didn’t really have one to begin with? What’s the worst that could happen, if anything?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks :)
I’m almost %100 positive that I don’t have an STD (*knock on wood*). I’ve only ever been with one guy, and we were both each other’s first time, so I don’t know where I could get an STD/STI from if I were to actually have one.

I have been having some problems of interest for the past few days so I did research today and it seems I have a yeast infection. My symptoms are intense external vaginal itching, burning when my pee touches my skin, and white discharge. I’ve never have a yeast infection before and I can’t get to the doctor for a week. I want to treat this on my own if possible. What is a good way to treat it? Any advice on relieving the itching during treatment?

Thanks!

personal question for girls……?

I have vaginal itching…it itches soooo bad. I have been putting vagisyl creme on, and that takes the edge off, but it still itches. I am not scratching, cuz I know that would make it worse. I have NO discharge. Does this mean that eventually the itching will go away, since I don’t have a discharge, or any other symptoms, does this mean I don’t have a vaginal yeast infection? Or, should I use one of those over-the-counter yeast infection treatments just incase? I am 31 and never had this before. No, it is not an std by the way. I have not used any different laundry detergent or soaps, but I keep my body really clean and shower often.

Yeast infection and cysts…?

I’ve had a really bad yeast infection starting a few months into my pregnancy. Itching being the only real symptom. I was tested and it came back positive so I was told to use the cream only as I’m pregnant. So that’s what I did, on and off for about 5 months now. It didn’t help at all, I still have it. However a new problem has arose from this, what I think to be cysts. I read trauma to the vaginal area, (itching and infection) could cause these and I think that’s what I got.
I have two on the outside, under the skin, pea sized lumps. And inside I have a row of red swollen ones, due to infection.
What kind of treatment would I get if I’m pregnant?
I go see my doctor on Wendsday, to show him my newest problem.
Does it sound like cysts? Is there some home remedy I could use to help clear them up?

I’ve been in a 5 year realtionship and he’s the only partner I’ve had.

I got tested for STD’s early on in my pregnancy and when they did a swab I got tested again. I don’t think it’s that… but I am going to go have it looked at though. :)
The risk for herpes is pretty low… :)
