I just went to a dermatologist for acne treatment. I said I was interested in Accutane because it’s the only thing that might "almost cure" acne by shrinking the oil glands. I knew that Retin-A and other toipical gels/creams may cause serious irritation, or they just might not work. Even if they do work and cause no irritation, I don’t want the hassle and financial burden of having to use it every day for years.
Aware of the risks associated with Accutane, I wasn’t surprised when she suggested that I try oral antibiotics and Retin-A first. I voiced my concern about antibiotic resistance, but she said it would only be 2 months before I next see her. She said some people even took antibiotics for years. Not having enough information at hand, I agreed to her prescriptions: Retin-A & antibiotics.
Now I’m at home reading and discovered that antibiotic resistance can develop after 2 months and may cause yeast infections. I hate doing this to myself. Should I call her and refuse the pills?
Note: I do NOT have yeast infections! I’m mainly concerned that
1. oral antibiotics may cause yeast infections in the future.
2. oral antibiotics may cause antibiotic resistance in as little as two months.
I’m thinking of just using the Retin-A or other topical gels now for my acne. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll just ask for Accutane again.

Hi
Due to a thrush infection I have to cut out sugar from my diet to cure it. This includes natural sugars like fruit, and other sweet things (artificial sweetener) that the yeast would feed on. Also meant to really limit dairy, apart from active yoghurt. Additionally I can’t have anything with yeast in, such as most bread products; plus some other things.
I can manage my meals okay, but want to snack a lot (I need more calories due to the bf, and probably also have some bad snacking habits). I am really struggling to find snacks that I am allowed to eat.
I’d appreciate it if people can offer some suggestions so I can find different things. I am aware I could just not snack, but I’m afraid I’ll end up binging or eating unhealthier meals.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I know this is kind of weird to ask people I dont know, but I have had infections before and known right away and treated it; but this time a culture came back from the Doc saying I had one. I have no symptoms whatsoever but he wants to prescribe me a pill to make it go away. I am wondering if this will make me sick if I leave it alone or if there is anything wrong w/out taking medicines since it isn’t bothering me? The Doc office is closed right now or else I would call him. Thanks in advance for any FACTS you all know of.

I know this is gonna be gross to some people, and if any of my friends see this I’m in shit.
But I’m really scared right now. My vagina itches & it burns when I pee. I just got out of the shower around 3 hours ago and it just started itching. I didn’t know why so I was scratching but it didn’t help. So I went to go pee to see if it would help but it just stung really badly. I looked online and I read that it might be Yeast Infection, but I’m not sure. And I also read that you CAN die from it so now I’m scared to go to bed and it’s 5:30AM. I don’t want to go to the hospital because I don’t want to tell my dad. My mom’s not home because she’s visiting our family in the Philippines and she won’t be back for 2 weeks. And I’m only 14.
I’m really scared and I could cry right now !
By the way, I am most definitely NOT sexually active. And for a while now it’s stopped itching as much. So if it does stop itching completely, does that mean that it was just some freak reaction to my soap or is it more serious than that?
Also thank you all for trying to help ^^ I really do appreciate it !
Thanks everyone ! Maybe I will go see a doctor. I’d rather wait for my mom to come home before I do though. And if I did go to the hospital or a doctor’s office, since my city is very small it would be like at least a 3 hour wait. Hmm, maybe I’ll go on a school day!
I’m not normally this active on Yahoo Answers so I don’t know if "Best Comment" or whatever it is is actually important to anyone, but I don’t think I want to pick a best answer because you’ve all helped a lot.
Sorry if you wanted it!
