I am 18 years old and about a week ago i was prescribed ampicillin by my dermatologist. I believe that it has caused me to have my first vaginal yeast infection because it is an antibiotic. I started having symptoms 4 days ago like swelling, itching, and discomfort, and thick discharge. I first bought a 1 day OTC treatment which i found not very helpful. I then called the doctor and she recommended a 3 day before they prescribe me something. yesterday was the last day of the 3 day treatment and all the symptoms are gone except for the itching and occasional discharge. I don’t know what else i should do. Is it gone? and i cant reach a doctor until Monday
any advice?
Women only please.
Should i continue to take the antibiotic? The nurse acted like it would be fine, but wouldnt that just keep making me have this?

I’ve had yeast infection since March because of antibiotics (I had to take a few treatments). First time Diflucan helped, but after another antibiotic the infection came back but never went away. I tried some vaginal creams to treat the infection and it didn’t help. My gyno put me on a 6-month treatment with Diflucan (1 pill every week for 6 months). I already took 4 pills and it’s not even getting better at all. It’s not too bad, it doesn’t itch at all, it doesn’t hurt when i have sex but there’s a lot of white discharge. And it’s kinda weird because sometimes i feel like i don’t have it anymore but later the same day the discharge comes back. And everytime we have sex, my boyfriend’s penis is covered with this white stuff, it’s just disgusting, man. My doc sent the culture to the lab and they confirmed that it’s yeast.
Have you ever had this kind of problem before and how did you get rid of it?
Thank you all

Why would they give me antibiotics for the uti along with diflucan(yeast medicine) to cure both…the doc said yeast infections are caused by antibiotics…so wouldn’t i just get worse? the antibiotic feels like its making the yeast worse but I know its treating a uti…hmm what should I do? can i eat yogurt on it too?

My boyfriend has been taking an antibiotic for a while now and we recently found out that he has a yeast infection. He has been having testicular pain as well and we were wondering: Could that be from the yeast infection or should we be worried about something more serious?
