Cleaning your dog’s ears with vinegar is good as a *preventative*, not a cure for a full-blown infection.
Your dog needs to see a vet.
None. You need the correct prescription ear rinse and medication from a vet. Stop making your dog suffer with this and get it to the vet.
I recommend paying a visit to your vet’s office.
We recommend purchasing Canaural for dogs with yeast infections in the ear.
vinegar and peroxide just drys out the EARS you cheap-O
GET MEDS!!!
its called you get a pet you better take care of it better than yourself…
go to the vet and the vet will give you cleaner and meds for the yeast…
you wont have it go away the way you are doing it.
youre not killing the yeast with peroxide… yeast is a MOLD… mold needs to be killed by a drug… not peroxide….peroxide doesnt kill it, it kills WEAK bacteria, not molds
You can’t use home remedies. You have to take your dog to the vet. Vinegar and peroxide are probably maing it worse.
There are several ear complaints that effect dogs and they can all be very serious if not treated correctly resulting in deafness. Are you sure that it is a yeast infection? mites can be a problem in dogs, often carried by cats and the cats usually show no symptoms, if you have cats or alot of cats in your locality then you should really be treating the cats as well. Only a vet can diagnose the problem with your dogs ears and I recommend that you stop home treating and visit your vet asap. If the dog has ear mites the usual treatment is antibiotic drops.
You CAN’T cure an infection at home. First, how do you know that it’s yeast, and not mites or bacterial? Second, to cure a yeast infection (fungus), you need an anti-fungal. To cure a bacterial infection, you need an antibiotic…get the picture? The dog NEEDS to see a vet. There is NO home remedy for this (no, vinegar/peroxide/anything else you can find to stick in the poor dog’s ear won’t work). NEED a VET. Ear infections hurt, and can lead to deafness and even, in extreme cases, DEATH (from sepsis, or blood poisoning).
EDIT: Do you remember how uncomfortable YOUR yeast infection was (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnP2SwfjJBFlKOkSEtgUO9Dty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091106145611AA3T9Lp) ?
I see you’ve been asking questions about this for a week while your dog has been suffering. I understand that you’re only 16, so you need to let your parents know that failing to provide proper veterinary care is illegal in at least 45 states. Your dog could be confiscated at best, they could be fined or arrested at worst.
Again, you don’t even know if it’s yeast. I see that "EVERYONE" says that Apple Cider Vinegar works (from a previous question). It does not. You’ve been told for a week to take the dog to the vet. That’s the ONLY thing that’s going to make it better. Tell your parent(s) that it HAS to be done. It’s not too expensive to get an ear infection treated (the medication I used for my dogs is only $12).
Talk to the vet while you’re there about prevention, too. Often times, a crappy food from Wal-Mart or the grocery store is to blame…if the dog is on a high quality food (Innova, California Natural, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul, Wellness Super5mix, Solid Gold, Merrick, even Diamond Natural-which is cheaper than lots of Wal-Mart’s crappy foods), that’s often enough to prevent yeast infections (if that’s what the dog has).
