Oral thrush, yeast infections and anal bleeding / fissure?
I recently caught an STD, Trichomoniasis. I was diagnosed and treated at a clinic, where they gave me a prescription for Flagyl, which I took incorrectly. I orally took one pill per day for four days, and I should have taken all four at once. It still worked to cure my Trich, but I developed a yeast infection. The doctor also re-medicated me with Flagyl and I took it properly, just in case there was still some Trich in my system. She also gave me 3 Fluconizole pills, and I took one every 72 hours. Somewhere in that time frame, I realized I had oral thrush, and I went to the doctor for that. She gave me a mouth rinse that I keep forgetting to take, and it’s not helping very much, probably because I can’t remember to do it four times a day. The Fluconizole pills were helping the oral thrush, but didn’t totally cure my yeast infection either. I tried to wait it out. I changed my diet to rid myself of yeasts, but I’m not sure if I did that right either! I eliminated all breads from my diet, stopped drinking sodas, cut back on carbs, tried to cut back on sugar (it’s hard because I love fruit), and I upped my yogurt intake. I’ve been eating mostly salads, meats and cheeses. Today I realized that cheese is bad for a yeast infection. Ugh! Go figure.
In the meantime, it’s been somewhat difficult to poop. I guess it started more recently that my stools were pretty hard, and I had to strain to push them out. Sorry for the TMI. What’s worse is that during this time, I suspected I had developed yeast in my anal area. It wasn’t crusty or typical of what I’ve read online about anal yeast infections. Last night put the icing on the cake – I strained to pass a bowel movement, and there was bright red blood spotting on my toilet tissue. So… I used a vaginal suppository yeast infection medicine that I’ve been holding off on trying, and I put the cream that comes with it on my vagina and anus. This morning, I wake up with some slight/mild relief from the vaginal infection, but my anus is still kind of sore and a lil itchy. I looked it up online, of course, and found out that anal bleeding can be caused by a tear if you strain to poop. I wonder if that’s what happened to me, or if I have some other kind of condition. What could all of this be?
I’m going back to the doctor on Wednesday, but I’m worried in the meantime. What could this be?

You will continue to have oral thrush and a yeast infection until it’s properly treated. Part of that comes down to proper treatment type (the creams, pills, etc that you are given by the doctor). Some strains of oral thrush as well as some yeast infections are resistant to certain treatment types, so it might be trial and error for awhile until you find the right treatment for you. Part of that also comes down to the way that you follow the instructions. Forgetting to take a dose, forgetting to use a cream or mouthwash, etc will not help you get rid of your oral thrush or yeast infection any sooner. Try setting a timer, an alarm on your cell phone, or something to make you remember when it’s time to follow the instructions that the doctor gave you.
The tear that you have is from the straining. When you cut yeast out of your diet, you cut out the fiber, and unfortunately stopped yourself up. When you strained, you got a tear, known as an anal fissure. To treat it, go to Walgreens and get yourself some Nupercaine, it’s the most effective to put on it to stop the hurting and heal it. If you don’t have Nupercaine, you can put Vitamin A&D Ointment or some Vaseline on the tear (use a glove if you don’t want to touch it).
Go back to the doctor, tell him/her the problems you are still having, and also explain that you need an "easy fix" because you haven’t been able to follow instructions.
