Help! I am having the worst yeast infection symptoms. Anyone experience this?
(by the way, I’m a girl regardless of my name on here) So I took the medicated ointment last night, and woke up and its like 2x as itchy! its getting worse and worse, itchier and more sore and red. I’m so miserable.. Is the ointment not working? Its a generic brand of monistat cream. I am taking vagisil with it. Please help. Has anyone experienced the itch this bad after taking the ointment?
Also, the medicine come out a little as I walk around I think because it ends up on my underwear little bits at a time. Does this stop it from healing me? I mean its coming out!

The over the counter meds do work, they will burn at first, that means they are working. To avoid/help the infection, always try to include yogurt in your diet. It will help keep a healthy PH balance ‘down there’. Eating too many carbs/sugars can sometimes cause or aggravate yeast infections (yeasty bread is not good). Always drink plenty of water, to keep your whole body hydrated. Eating yogurt is probably the cheapest way to help combat yeast infections. Stress, sitting alot, sweating down there also causes yeast infections. Wear loose fitting cotton fabrics. Make sure you keep your immune system healthy.
When I had mine I had a choice of using cream or a pill. I’ve used both before and right before bed. Than by morning I was fine.
I don’t really know what is happening it may just be the medicine doing its job.
what your describing sounds like PID which needs to addressed asap left untreated can become serious and could require hospitalization call your primary Dr or your OB-GYN TODAY I would be interested in knowing how this turns out
your body may be rejecting the ointment, you may have over medicated it, or you may have not done it right. Or you may need to wait a day to see if the medicine in fact is working before going to the doctor or trying any other medication
the medication is supposed to come out eventually. You are supposed to sit in the same position for at least an hour so it can soak up in your cervex. So you may have not used the medication correctly.
Things that will help right away:
you need to eat as much yogurt as you can like yoplait, there are cultures in the yogurt that kill yeast causing bacteria. Drink tons of cranberry juice, and water you need to stay hydrated. This will help reduce the itching and swelling.
but if it does not feel better by tomorrow i would most definately recommend seeing your physician or go to planned parenthood as soon as possible because they will give you antibiotics that will eliminate the infection right away. Don’t try over the counter anymore you will only make it worse.
hope you feel better
take care
EDIT: the bacteria from the yeast infections often sneak into your urinary tract then causing a bladder infection or UTI. that is why it is wise to drink cranberry juice at the time of a yeast infection to prevent another irritating infection.
yes, the day after the treatment is usually the worst. The medicine is fighting the infection, making it flare up. It should be gone by tomorrow. If you used the 1 day treatment, sometimes that is not enough, you may want to try the 3 day one if the symptoms don’t go away in a few days.
The medicine is coming out because it is a cream that is unattached in your vagina. The ovules tend to work much better when it comes to not "leaking". As far as why it itches…it’s a yeast infection. Scratch it as little as possible because scratching will only make it worse (i know it feels good though). As far as going to the doctor, if it has not been going on that long try the three day treatment before seeing them. They WILL NOT give you antibiotics, since antibiotics can actually CAUSE yeast infections. Normally they will just tell you to go buy Monistat. If however, it continues then it may be something worse or different and then go see the doctor. Also, cranberry juice only helps Urinary Tract Infections. No point in drinking something so gross for no reason.
Hope everything works out, just be patient and stay busy.
