Embarassed to see a doctor.?

I think I may have a yeast infection. I’ve had it for a couple of months. Sometimes it gets really itchy down there and other times its not so bad.
How do I tell if there is a yeast infection. I’m really, really embarassed when it comes to talking about that stuff, so I haven’t told my mom and i haven’t see a doctor.
Is there any natural cures for it?

Sounds like bacterial vaginosis, that’s because yeast infections generally go away when you have your period… the pH fluctuation makes it an inhospitable environment for yeast. You’re supposed to start seeing a gyn when you become 18 or sexually active, so nows a perfect time to start. Just tell your mom you think it’s time you started going. Eating plenty of yogurt is always a good idea btw.
There’s really no need to be nervous! Everyone gets yeast infections – they’re really common. The doctor will probably just give you a prescription for a cream or something. As for natural cures – drink lots of cranberry juice and eat lots of plain yogurt.
You really sould see a dr. because it can cause serious damage. If you dont want your parents to know you can go to planned parent hood and tell them your symptoms. It is nothing to be embaressed about. It is normal. If you have a regualar dr. and you want to tell your partents I would go there. You would just take some meds and it will be gone. Pure cranberry just helps clean you out. Not ocean spray or anything, pure cranberry juice, it is like $8 a bottle.
for any vaginal infection you need to see your doctor. especially if you’ve had it for awhile and you’re not sure what it is. there are very simple treatments for normal yeast infections, but you need to be assured that that’s what it is. a yeast infection isn’t from sex or anything, so there’s no reason to be embarrassed. i know it may be weird to you, but doctors/healthcare providers see these VERY commonly. it’s not weird or gross to them. if it is something like a std it could cause infertility. you need to rule out the bad things as well as treat whatever it is. good luck.
These things need to be checked by a doc to find out what is causing your problems. If it is a yeast infection you will have severe itching and a thick clumpy cottage cheese type discharge. If you are having problems seey your doc and get checked out. There is nothing to be embarrassed about as the doc is only doing his job. He went to school just to handle problems just like yours. He has seen it all before and heard it all before so let him do his job.
You can use over the counter products like vagisil, but the Dr has to do blood work and maybe a culture to know if its really a yeast infection or a urinary tract infection or maybe a kidney infection. You should really tell your mom. She’s more than likely had the same thing. And as far as a Dr. goes, trust me, they have seen everything! You are a lot more scared than they are. Its like the dentist. They look at teeth all day long. Well for gynocologist, you are just another girl. Hope you get well soon……
There is nothing to be imbarrest about. Virgins get yeast infections. And usually it’s because you are tooo clean.
See yeast infection develops when the stuff you need to fight yeast is lost. So douching, using lots of soap etc…kill it and then you develop yeast.
You really should tell you mom, because she can buy the meds over the counter.
A real indication of yeast is itching, and you may notcie you have white stuff(like white clearish liquid coming out in small amounts) it really doesn’t have an odor.
Bottom line tell your mom: even little girls can get it.
I agree with most answers, you really need to see a doctor. Usually, a yeast infection will cause a cottage cheese like substance & it will have a gross fishy smell to it. Two months is a long time to have to suffer with this problem.
No natural cures that I know of. I know there is more than one type of yeast infection that you can get, one basically comes from the private area staying moist & wearing tight jeans can make it worse and the other one can be passed back & forth sexually==so if you are sexually active, you could be passing it back & forth. Talk to your mom. 2 months is a long time.

The symptom’s are itching(sometimes drives you insane) and a white discharge that looks like cottage cheese.
See a doctor, then you will know for sure if it’s a yeast infection, or a bacterial infection. An untreated bacterial infection can cause some potentially serious and permenant damage.
As some of the other posters said everyone gets a yeast infection. I’m a virgin and I occasionally have issues with yeast infections.
I know you are embarrassed to go to the dr hun but this really needs to be evaluated by a dr, especially because you have had symptoms for so long now.
As for natural treatments and such pls don’t try to self-treat til you find out if it is for sure a yeast infection. Drs are used to dealing with this. If you have a primary care physician they can help with this.

You really shouldnt be embarrassed about these things. Easy to say I know but these kinds of infections are very common,and doctors would see at least one case every day I reckon.
