Yes, it can, but it is more likely that the antibiotic prescibed for the UTI caused the yeast infection. But don't worry either way. See your doc and get rid of it once and for all. Ask for a different med for the UTI and the 1-pill prescription for yeast infection and do the following.

Drink LOTS of water.
Drink cranberry juice - eat cranberries.
Eat 1 cup of yogurt per day.
Avoid thong underwear and pantyhose.
Go commando (no underwear) whenever possible - esp at bedtime.
Wear pads, avoid tampons.
If sexuallly active avoid sex until clear, and then use condoms with KY personal lubricant for another week or so.

Get your body back in PH balance and it will all be okay!

You did not get the UTI back because of a yeast infection. When you have a UTI they need to do a culture of your urine and a sensitivity so they can see what bug is causing your UTI and which antibiotic will most effectively take care of it. If they didn't get you on the right med that is why you might have gotten it back or it the meds didn't quite kill all the bacteria you may just need to take the meds longer. When a doc prescribes antibiotics he uses a rule of thumb as to how long to order them for. Some docs may feel 5 days should do the trick while others may say 7 or 10 days. Also when you are on antibiotics you need to eat lots of yogurt with live active cultures to prevent a yeast infection or take acidophillus capsules.

Of course it can. But it would be a fungal UTI, so antibiotics would actually make matters much, much worse. That's why candida infections are treated with anti-fungal agents, not antibiotics.
