Can I still use Monistat if this is my first yeast infection?

I have a yeast infection (all the signs are there) but I have never officially been diagnosed with one by a doctor before. I bought Monistat to cure my yeast infection but it says numerous times on the box to NOT use it if this is your first yeast infection. Can I just go ahead and use it anyway? I’m in college and don’t have time to go to a hospital.

First, you should take a yeast infection test to determine whether or not you really have a yeast infection. Yeast infection tests are much like home pregnancy tests — they’re widely available and you should be able to get one at your local pharmacy or supermarket.
If the test is positive, then go ahead and get some Monistat.
